I cant get my comp to recognize taht my axim is connected, or maybe my axim isnt recognizing my computer. I plug it into teh cradle and it connects cause it shows the lil computer in the system tray and says connect at 10mps. But i cant get active sync to load. I try loading it from the axim once pplugged into the cradle and also try loading it from my comp, but it doesnt do anything. I have the automatic active sync thing changed to manual.
Can anyone help me, i reset my comp and the axim and nothing is working. I need to load some music on to it. Thanks
I don't have a solution, I seem to have the same problem.
My X51v is two months old, and beginning yesterday (june 03) it will not connect to my PC thru the USB. I tried reinstalling ActiveSync 4.1 and turning off Windows Firewall but that did not solve the problem.
Help!
Today I excitedly recieved my new $500 Axim X51V and could not synch it - it simply sat on the screen saying "Connecting." I was on the phone with their horrible off-shore tech support for 3 HOURS during which I was subjected to:
no less than 4 uninstall/re-installs of ActiveSuck, including one download of the software from Microsoft's website, numerous re-starts of my PC, and numerous soft and hard re-sets of the Axim. The first AND second level support "professionals" didn't seem to know what to do. I was repeatedly told to do the same thing multiple times. We tried disabiling my firewall (free Zonealarm), re-enabling Zonealarm and configuring it to accept the Axim; disabling my anti-virus, etc. What a mess! http://www.aximsite.com/boards/images/smilies/mad.gif
After I disonnected from the online control of my PC (which was useless) I was prompted to complete a survey; here's what I wrote:
"As a computer professional I've dealt with many tech support professionals. The people you contract with did an extremely poor job of "troubleshooting" my problem. Quite simply I wasted three hours following their directions to do the same thing many many times, with the same results. They need some SERIOUS training. My issue was not resolved and this was a complete waste of my time and effort. This experience has completely extinguished any excitement I felt at having received my $500 piece of crap Axim. They tech support person said they are sending me a new Axim. Now I have to wait another week (at least) for what I pray will be a fully functioning Axim. I had a very good attitude toward Dell and the reputed tech support and have steered many customers toward Dell for PCs and other products - I now have a VERY different attitude toward Dell and will NOT recommend it to the many people who I teach computers to. Dell, by saving a few bucks off-shoring your tech support you've lost me and many others."
So now I wait another week for my new Axim and pray that it works. After reading the many posts on this forum I have no faith that the new one will work.
Yes, same issue with me. It's not hardware, and DELL is useless. I have had many problems with this since xmas when I gave this to my wife. She used to use an HP Jornada, and that thing was rock solid. Anyway, I did get this to sync a couple of months ago. The only change that I made was to install a retail TomTom Navigator 5.2 software package. It may not have been installed a couple of months ago when this was working properly. Can't remember.
Anyway, I have to figure this out tonight, so any help you could give would be appreciated.

OK, so I did in fact get it syncing again. Unfortunately, I had to do a hard reset. Then, worked like a charm. I'm afraid that my bluetooth GPS might be getting in the way? Not sure. What I didn't try was just to delete partnership - probably should have done that first, but just getting too frustrated to spend more time on it.
Try a soft reset. This is a problem I continue to have with my Axim x51. I hate it, but have too much invested to pitch it! I'll never buy another DELL

My X51v was working like a charm until 2 weeks ago. I did every. Disabled my firewall, my antivirus, unintalled active sync and re installed.
I ended up doing a hard reset. It synced. I restated my firewall, it synced, I restarted my antivirus, it synced, I re installed each PDA program, and it still synced each time.
I have not a clue, but I do know that there are a lot of people complaining of activesynce not sync'ing lately.
I feel that some windows update screwed something up.
I thought I'd give you all an update. After my poor customer service experience last Fri, they said they'd send me a replacement Axim and it would take 2 to 10 days. My new Axim arrived today! I'm looking forward to trying it out this evening and I'm crossing my fingers that it will synch. I only wish they'd sent a new cradle for it since I'm wondering if that could be part of the problem with it not synching. I'll let you know what happens.

Soft reset, reboot the PC, delete the old partnership, put Axim in the cradle.

And maybe install the latest Microsoft ActiveSync program from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync42.mspx
before you start.
Remember to keep the Axim well away from the PC before you have finished installing AS.
I received my new Axim but last night I had the same problem synching. I tried everything I could think of: hard & soft resets, disabling firewall and anti-virus, removing from firewall access of the three synch programs, then re-approved their access, downloaded Active synch 4.2 beta. Nothing has worked. I even tried limiting the startup programs via msconfig, and tried booting into Safe Mode. Nothing has worked. Why can't a huge corporation like Microsoft create a program that works? this is very frustrating and I'm thinking about sending this Axim back and getting a Palm or IPAQ.
