I really do appreciate all the help here on this site!
I`ve done the fake server trick, & filed my battery cover, After that most things work great. I have a new ploblem that I`ve been trying to rectify for a few weeks. My X51V stopped syncing. It connects but not sync. The green sync spinning thing spins for 75 seconds.Then there is no error message just (syncronization error) Then my Axim comes up with a (we`re sorry... a ploblem has occurred with repllog.exe.) Then I have to tap send or don`t send, to report this problem to MS.
My Windows is 2k, I had active sync 4.1 in when it decided to stop syncing,(it worked for some time before this) I tried 4.2 still no good, I`ve done hard reset, soft reset, tried formatting my computer & having only Win 2K OS & active sync. During all of this my wife`s HP Ipaq HX4700 syncs just fine in all these situations. I use no fire wall, & I have been using a Pro version of AVG anti virus software.

Does the HX4700 run Windows Mobile 5?
I suspect that an update to the anti-virus has stopped the connection. Try stopping the AV and any anti-malware add-ons it has installed and see if that makes a difference.
I presume you have soft-rest the device and then tried to sync before doing anything else with it?
Have you tried syncing via Infrared or bluetooth, rather than via USB?

Remove all files from your sync directorys on both the axim and the PC then reboot the PC and softreset the axim. This has happend to me when trying to sync a large file (like a complicated word document) and also when syncing some data bases I use. I know it says it can not connect but I think that determining which systems are being synced, what has to be synced, and what was synced last is part of the connection process.

Annother funny is that after sycning two empty folders a file appears on both devices. Delete that one and sync again until it stops showing up. I don't know where that critter comes from!!!!!

My HX4700 runs WM2003SE, Anti-virus is stopped, Done soft reset, hard reset, I have no Infrared or bluetooth, mine is a desk top.

It connects but not sync. I can tranfer files with no problem.
I have unistalled active sync deleted all such file from PC & Axim.
No sync!

I have this same problem. I got a card reader and put everything on my CF card. I called Dell and they insist it is a problem with my computer...I don't think so! But I hate taking hours on the phone with them to then be told "Don't worry" and that it is my computer. Did you get any help with this? Also I cannot find the intructions for the fake server. My axim won't turn on unless I do a soft reset and perhaps if I do the fake server thing again it will fix. I have a hard time navigating this site...if you can provide help, I would apprecciate it!

Still cannot sync. I will try another hard reset.

After doing hard reset it synced that night, but not the next morning.
