A012 upgrade via IR ??????

I was going to try the upgrade via IR as as I am unable to sync via the cradle but I thought I would see if anyone has any ideas about my chances of success before I brick it.

LOL! Do not do that!
With the people having enough issues while USB connected and doing the update I can see you calling dell tech support within about 5 minutes of that atempt

I agree with you. The instructions listed on the Dell site and reported from users on this web site indicate the unit must be in the cradle for the entire process. Removing the unit from the cradle during any time in the process causes A12 not to complete its flash.

It would fail, but it would take much, much longer than 5 minutes to fail via IR!! IR is slowwwwww.

I know it's slow (really slow) but I have decided to wait until I can fix AS. I was a bit hopeful that if I could upgrade via IR that I would fix my AS problems.

You may want to try to upgrade through the cradle, even if it's not working correctly before.

I was never able to reliably use the cradle for syncing before the update (I always had to sync via IR), but I just figured I'd try it anyway -- if your computer doesn't see the axim it won't be able to do the update anyway, so no harm done.

For me, even though I couldn't sync before the update, the update still went through fine. Even better, my device is much more reliable now, and the cradle syncing works much better now (still occassionally having problems, but nothing as bad as before).

As I said, try updating in the cradle...if it doesn't connect, it won't hurt anything (at least I don't see how it could...

Thanks for that info, I'll give it a try as my problem is with AS. The computer connects to the Ax, it just won't sync.
