Aximsitewifiicon Wifi authentication issue after A12 upgrade

I've just upgraded to A12 - all seemed to go well (except all the things I forgot I'd need to re-enter like personal info).

However on setting up my WLAN, I find I can now only enter 20 digits for the authentication key, which isn't enough to input my 128 bit key. It worked fine before, what has happened?

Any ideas from out there???

I have to ask the obvious rather than assume:

Have you tried entering more than 20 characters? (The window should scroll as you add more than it can display in one go.)

More than 20 chars

Yes - it just stops at 20. It won't accept any more. Whether it overwrites the 20th with the 21st isn't visible as they are just asterisks.

How do you know for sure that it's not accepting any more characters? When you scroll a field full of asterisks, it's pretty damn hard to tell . . .

I have a 128 bit WEP key on my router, and was able to enter it into my Axim with A12. Not much seemed to be happening after I entered the 20th character, but it definitely took it . . . my Axim works fine on my home network.

Yes, they do scroll - you just cannot tell since one asterisk looks like the previous. This is not new with A12, the previous versions (back to WM03) just had a 20-character box.

I would, howver, suggest you just use 64-bit if you are going to stick with WEP. In practical terms, it is just as secure as 128 and it is much easier to enter 10 characters correctly than 26.
