Aximsitex50icon maximum storage capacity for CF & SD

Hello:
I was wondering if anyone knows the maximum storage capacity for CF and SD that I can put into an x51v, and do microdrives work, if so how big and what kinds. I have already called Dell and they don't know anything. I got a different answer every time I called.

I can verify that both a 4GB SD and 8GB CF work in the Axim X51V.

I have a 8gb CF micro drive installed and working on my X51V. At this point 4gb is the largest card capacity for a SD or CF card. 8gb is the largest capacity for a CF micro drive. I can rememver when 328mb was a largest size available. Weve come a long ways baby!

Cards larger than 4 GB for SD and 8 GB for CF may work, but they're not broadly available, so they haven't been tried.

More than 4GB SD don't exist. I have a 4GB one in my Ax right now. CF flash is readily available up to 8GB; got one of those in right now too. They exist up to 16GB, but are impossible to get.

I have an A-Data 4GB SD card which works great and a Hitachi 6GB Microdrive which also works great in my X51v.

The largest avaliable for CF is the Protec 12GB. Costs a fortune!
It works with X50s/X51s as they both can read FAT32.

Regarding to SD, 4GB is the largest and that's due to chip density limitation rather than software. Hence SDHC was introduced and isn't compatible with X50s/X51s.

There have been manufactured 16GB CF cards, but not in large batches, so they're extremely rare and insanely expensive. And, rlarson, I just saw that title in the storage thread. Thanks for the heads up.
