My X51v keeps "losing sight" of any onboard cards. I've been keeping a 512MB CF card onboard, and I use a variety of SD cards. Right now, my device won't seem to acknowledge either of them.

This is a known issue. ROM A12 for most fixed this. Another way to fix this issue is with the 'Fake Server Trick' posted on this web site (listed below). Read the thread and just follow its instructions. It worked for me when my unit was at A06 ROM level. Now that I have done the upgrade to ROM A12 I have not needed this trick.

I'm having the same problem too.. However, it will discovered both the cards after a reset.
Sometimes it can be cured with a reset or resetting the cards in the pda........I have both an x50v and x51v and both have exhibited this issue.......have applied the fake server trick to both and it has helped!

ROM A12 has indeed solved the issue, without the need to apply the FST.
However, I have discovered a new problem that did not exist with ROM A06.
The short version is, that the system hangs when a CF card is inserted and there are meeting reminders.
At first I thought it had something to do with the apps installed on the card, but after reading another post in Aximsite from a user that had exactly the same symptoms, I realized that the problem lies elsewhere, and that is with the interface between the Axim and the CF card.
It seems that while solving one issue, Dell and Microsoft have created another problem....
The thing is that for anyone like me, who uses the Axim constantly throughout the day, going from meeting to meeting, this problem is very problematic. This is because the system freezes, and no more appointment reminders pop up.
The existing solutions to the problem are:
a) Performing a SR everytime the system hangs (this is however a problem, if the system hangs often).
b) Turning on and off the system several times, and then pressing long the Power button, until a warning comes up (regarding losing all the unsaved data), cancelling the Power Off, and dismissing the meeting reminder popups.
c) Removing the CF card (this would mean reinstalling all apps that reside there to an SD card).
GRR, that does sounds problematic. I think the Fake Server trick is your best bet, along with the upgrade. I have not had this problem, but I never remove my CF card either.

I just recieved my x51v abou two weeks ago (Love it!). It has A12, and I applied the fake server trick. I do have a similar problem tho. If I take my CF or SD card out, and install an excel or word file on it, my PDA does not recognize the new files when I reinstall the card. It does recognize any old files I might have already viewed, but not any new files. If I do a soft reset, then it recognizes all files on the card. My old X5 instantly recognized any files as soon as I put the card in it. It's not hard to do a soft reset, just annoying that I should have to at all.
