A02 had not problems, A01 Had a problem after installing all my software. Notice batt power lost after a 6 hour sleep. 10%, norm is 1-2%.
All running A12

Backup using Sprite, Hard reset then a restore fixed my problem

I was curious, did any of you use memaid? Did it find any duplicates? Mine doesn't seem to find any.

My X51v is hardware rev A01 (even though it said on the shipping box invoice A02... go figure). No problems after upgrade from A06 to A12 ROM, except those induced by Mortplayer and TCPMP waking up in the middle of the night and causing extreme heat and WSOD.

I would make sure to turn off all indicators on the today screen that refer to or show battery usage. From reading other threads its seems that there is a correlation in the battery drain with these tiny programs. I use Sqb Pocket plus 3.1 and do not have any drain issues but i have turned off all battery indicators. This will not totally fix the issue but will help!

I'm running
Harware version A00 and just upgraded from A06 to A12, love the bluetooth feautres now, i can connect my bt wireless headsets directly to the axim and they work great...

HOWEVER it seems though, that if i leave BT on and let the axim shut down by itself, i have to reset the axim in order to get it up again? anyone else get this? speed wise it seems much faster, even battery life is decent, not too bad.

But is there any way to get the date on the today screen to show in just one line? like before? it shows the clock there now so its wasting valuable today screen realestate...

Same here. It should be a good thing right? Though slightly worrying...
No problems is a problem. (touch wood)

Hardware version A02

I just received a refurbished X 51 hardware version A02 and I upgraded to ROM A12 with no issues. I did notice there seemed to be some extra steps in this ROM upgrade to follow when performing the upgrade.

You might try a free application named 'Magic Button'. This application shows you all of the time what applications are open on you Axim. It has a feature to close all open applications at a single selection. I always close all open applications before I shut my unit off.

Why dont they [Dell] up grade them before they send the refurbished axims back?
Then they woundnt have to up set the owners more then once.

I have a HW version A02, shipped with ROM A11. I *cannot* get the thing to update at all - tried for a good 8 hours yesterday. I read pretty much every forum thread here about the A12 issues and then decided to call Dell. They told me that it was Firefox's mere presence on my system that was causing the update failures (yeah right...) and after 3 hours on the phone with them and no solution, I am just going to wait for a new ROM. For the record, I tried on two different Windows XP machines and one Windows 2003 Enterprise machine - AS versions 3.8 [it yelled at me :( ], 4.1 and 4.2.

Hi All,
After trying to run A12 update with my desktop for 2 days, I couldn't get past the first first hard reset point.
So today I got out my old latitude laptop which only has USB1 and it went on OK.
This makes me think that the problem is a compatability with USB2.
Hope this is of some help.

Here's the solution for any of you wanting to upgrade through USB1.1 on a USB2.0 computer.

Right-click My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Expand 'Universal Serial Bus controllers' -> Find '........Enhanced Host Controller....' -> right-click Disable

When you're done, right click again to Enable.

Please report back. I'd really like to know if USB2.0 is really behind all those problems.

I have hardware A01. The upgrade to A12 went OK except I had some sink issues with activesync and conflicts. I believe my problems were due to reinstalling data from a backup. After deleting my device from activesync on my desktop and deleting and reinstalling the conflicting files and notes, all went back to normal and my X51v seems to run a little faster.

Just received new X51V, presently on charger, will follow directions and turn on tomorrow. HW is A03. Chat with Dell said that installation of A12 will render it unusable. Previous poster said recent receipt was A11. If HW is A03, is there a software upgrade that Dell installs as A11, and how do I tell? Disk provided by Dell is labelled for A03, lists AS as version 4.1.

Wish me luck with my new gadget! Love your site, esp Gigi tutorial! Give me a few weeks to study it!

no need to update from A11>A12. its the same rom. A11 is just the version of rom that dell install by default to fresh new units, A12 is a rom update for used axims. If You got axim with A12 so it was a new axim but was in a factory for a while with A06 rom, and dell upgraded to A12.
