Aximsitex50icon Switcher Bar

I've read about "Magic Button" and other things that supposedly close programs. Doesn't switcher bar (which is already on the Axim) do that too?

Yes, it is basic but it does the job without fuss

vBar is another FREE program that closes programs too.

Switcherbar has always caused me to have other problems for some reason. For instance, sometimes it just disapears for no reason, other times it caused programs to complain when closing them. Also sometimes it wouldn't start on its own even though it was in the startup folder. It just wan't reliable enough compared to MagicButton or Vbar. I use MB all the time now. Plus the third party stuff has extras that SB doesn't have.

With previous ROM revisions A04 and A06 I had issues using Switcherbar and found Magic Button. I have used it ever since. Now that I have A12 I guess I should go back and give it some testing.

I use vBar, as I don't like how MB covers the name of the program with icons.

Don't... it's not worth it still. I updated to A12 and still had the problems of it closing on me whenever it wanted to, not showing up when I started the Ax, and other things.

Attention Bigdave240 --How do you put switcherbar in the startup folder?

BTW, I use iLauncher, so I created a switcherbar shortcut under my apps tab.

Just put a shortcut to the switcherbar exe inside Windows/StartUp. You may need to do this via PC or Resco Explorer.

I just upgraded to A12 and use Magic Button, and have always found it to be great. However, since A12, I get a battery-shaped icon that links to power/brightness/processor speed settings at the top right of the Start bar. It obscures the date that DogFood's tweak displays, except when I'm in the Programs or System screen. Anybody know how to get rid of this icon so it doesn't obscure the date?

Larry

PS I've asked in this thread but no joy yet...

PPS Found Frenchy's registry hack (http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=131570) but it won't stick. When I click Done and close the registry editor, and open it again, the value is not there. A soft reset doesn't change that.

Suggestions?

OK, figured out why it wouldn't stick. I was clicking Edit in the Resco Regedit menu but should have tapped and held on the key then selected Modify. When I do that and soft reset, the ew value takes. However, a portion of the taskbar is blanked out, including the date/time placed there by DoggFood's tweak. I've restored it to as-found and will keep searching for a fix.

BTW, the key I modified isTBOpt, as suggested in a more recent post by someone trying to help someone else solve this problem, not the one Frenchy describes. I'll try adding the one he suggests.

Larry

EDIT: I tried adding the key Frenchy suggested (ShowTitleBarClock) and it worked! Don't know why the new key stayed this time but wouldn't before. Anyway, modifying TBOpt was not the correct modification so I'll update that post if I can find it.

Larry
