Exclamation URGENT/Bigtime Help needed ASAP! My Axim won't boot up

Due to some software on my X51v (A06 loaded), I was unable to due a hard reset to update my RAM from A06 to A12 so I was in the process of manually removing each software title on the device so I could eventually get to the point of doing a hard reset for my device to update. However, when I removed MortPlayer Today software, it required a soft-reset to complete the process but something happened and I ended up in Dell Diagnostic mode. I though I completed the Diagnostic Mode correctly as it warned me not to do anything out of the ordinary in fear of not being able to boot up the device. However, not only do I not have the ability to do a hard reset, my device is stuck on the opening "Dell" screen with some sort of black outlined box showing, too. My wireless light is flashing and I can only turn off the device by taking out the battery. Any suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!:realmad:

First are you sure your duing the hard reset properly, its described in your manual.
Second if you are then I would call Dell and request a different unit due to a faulty A12 upgrade.

also, are you talking about the first hard reset that you are instructed to do during the upgrade? If so then you need to read about this on this site. you are supposed to just continue like it actually happened. The reset box will flash on the screen for a second and then it looks like it boots back to the original OS. Then on the PC hit the continue button and it will finish installing A12. Lots of threads about this. Do some reading and try it again.

Point well taken. However, I am at a point of not even able to get the Dell device to boot up at all.

just a thought, have you checked the lock switch? if it has accidentally become locked it won't let you do a hard reset but it does sound like yours is bricked. Dell should have no problem replacing it. Be aware though that if it is older than 21 days you will get a refurbished unit. Not that there is anything wrong with a refurb (mine is also and it is perfect as far as I can tell) but don't be shocked when you get it.

Do refurbished units have any blemishes on the case or screen?

I guess some have very minor ones but most are really brand new ones that were returned for some reason or other. The one I got is perfect but I think that if you get one that isn't up to your expectations you might be able to return it for another. There have been a few posts here about bummers but most have been very positive from what I have read.

No, we completely exchange the body of the axim including all loose components (battery latch, sc/cf dummy etc) and digitizer if there's any scratch on it.
We also exchange every phone jack plug and rubber pads for the buttons.
If there is any damage on the IO plug we even exchange the complete board (effecting in a complete new (hand build !) pda).

I called Dell and another unit will be sent out ASAP for replacement. I was amazed that I got ahold of their technical assistance operator within 1 minute.

I have had great responce from Dells Support group when Ive needed them. I got my unit last October with a 2 year support contract and have had two replacements with no issues from Dells responce. Just hope if I have an issue in 1.4 years I will be able to get an X51V for a replacement. Wait, maybe by then Dell will have a Tablet PC and offer me that unit free (dream on LOL).:approve:
