After successfully upgrading by x51v from A08 to A12, I was asked by a friend to see if I could get her Axim operating better (lots of soft resets, occasional screen problems, wifi dropping out, etc.)

On inspection I found that she had an x51 and not the x51v and that it contained the A03 ROM.

I tried installiing R129272.exe but was told that I had the wrong language version.

A quick check on Aximsite and I learned that this error message likely meant I had the wrong upgrade file and that there was likely a different upgrade for the x51.

After downloading the new upgrade (R129273 .exe instead of R129272.exe which I had used) it installed flawlessly as a result of following the directions and caveats posted here.

I am left with a small worry however. The Axim was definitely upgraded which I confirmed by verifying that the Odessey client was the new one with the 'Disable Odessy' option on the menu.

However the Settings/SystemInfo says that A03 is still installed.

Any idea what's going on here?

I have the x51v but when i look at the SystemInfo it shows a12 so i wonder if you did a restore after you did the upgrade? if so try doing a hard reset and before doing anything else look then. If you did not do the restore are you sure you went through both of the hard resets of the upgrade? the first one just flashed the reset box for a second then the upgrade happened then you had to do another reset, right?

I installed on my X51 and my systems settings indicate that it is the A12 installed, not the A03. So not sure why your friend's X51 shows the latter.

I would suggest a reinstall of the A12 rom upgrade. That is if you care enough what the thing says.

I am trying to help a friend who just received a Axim X51v, A01 Hardware and A03 Software.

We are having some problems connecting to IE and the Internet.

I have a X51v, A03 Hardware and A12 Software on my Axim. I have configured the above Axim the same way as mine works, but I cannot connect to the Internet.

Also, the A03 Axim does not have USB to PC setting in the [Settings>Connections>USB to PC].

Also, it does not run as smoothly.

With all this said, I was wondering if I could bring it to A12 Software, by installing R129272.exe?

I have seen Benace's A06 to A12 (A06>A12 Step-by-Step - Aximsite), but I have not seen anything from A03 to A12.

Could someone help me with this situation. Thank you.

It should be the same no matter which version you start with. Just be sure to follow it step by step.....
