Formatting SD & CF cards after A12

Followed instructions for the update, lost everything even though I backed up... (when i tried to restore it said file system incompatibility). Can you back up somehow on your PC?

Anyway, it also said to format my two memory cards, but i cant find a way to do it either from the Axim 51, or Active Sync 4.2

Any help appreciated.

First, the instructions listed on this site recommended the removal of ALL SD or CF cards from the unit prior to dling ROM upgrade A12 (I know big help now :) )
Second, I format my SD and CF cards using a card reader which is a whole lot faster. If you have to there are applications which will give you the option to format SD and CF cards while they are inserted into your unit. Those that have tried doing that from here have reported that it works but is not worth the effort. IMHO they are correct. Use a card reader.

i format my sd and cf cards with a card reader also ....i have pocket mechanic which will format them while in the axim but prefere the reader
i have found that the axim likes fat 16 better then fat 32 i get a explore error when useing fat 32

Do new CF and SD cards have to be formatted and what is the procedure for an X 51V?
