Big Smile How to Solve the 85010014 ActiveSync 4.2 problem

I just bought the X51V, a few days ago, and could not get it to sync. I kept getting the Support Code 85010014 and some message about not being able to talk to the desktop, or something like that.

After poking around this site and others, I found the following page. Follow the steps for Update 2, and once I got to step 10, it worked.

I'll talk more about my situation below. Here is the link:

Basically, the directions tell you to uninstall and reinstall Outlook 2003. I did need to insert my original install disk, but it was quick.

I also had to delete my partnership in activesync on the computer, and on the Axim. I also repared through add/remove programs (control panel) ActiveSync 4.2

After that, everything pretty much worked. I love this thing. I have not had a PDA since the Palm M100 came out some years back. Now that I can sync, I am happy. I do not want to use outlook for email, I am just using it to back up data in the calendar/contacts side of the Axim. I use other programs at home for email and work, and I have access to these email accounts via the web, so I do not need to use outlook for anything. Personally, I hate Outlook. I think it is overly complex.

I have a two year old Dell with XP SP2 and Microsoft Office Small Buiness Edition 2003.

Well, that's it. I was so excited to get it working, I registered here just to share the information. I hope it helps others. Don't know who the guy is who figured it out, but I am glad I found the site.
