I didn't try it on mine with A06. I went to A12 as soon as I got it so don't know what it did with A06.

A06 & A12 are rom updates from Dell.

Go to start>settings>system Information and it will show you what version of ROM that you have.

Outlook was the culprit for me

As per MarcFou's post, I deleted the outlook item from startup and ta da! No more AS. The FST and hard restarts did not eliminate the autostarting AS on my 51v. I'm hoping this stops my overnight unexplained loss of battery.

Now I just need to figure out why I keep getting a "backup battery low" warning after a I put the charger on it.

Is there no end to figuring out issues with this thing? I'm in the process of moving away from my Sony Clie NZ90 and I sure do appreciate the simplicity of the Palm OS. Granted, it doesn't do all the cool things PPC does, but I sometimes wonder if it's worth it.

Thanks MarcFou.

I up graded from A01 to A12 and have not done the FST. As I understand the FST was to fix some other problems like disappearing cards, lockups and just about everyting else. I had some of those problems with A01 and doing the FST addressed those issues. Now with A12 I have not seen those problems and I have not done the FST. So from that I would say the FST is not required on A12.

The fake server trick will not stop the axim from syncing while it is in the cradle. But there are ways... The simpleist is to get a program called ActiveSync Toggle. It will allow you to enable and disable syncing with the push of a button on the desk top. You can get the program here http://www.micrologics.co.uk/library/ast/

One Last Note. Without doing FST on A01 activesync would start itself and then cause problems. Without FST on A12 ActiveSync will still start itself but it causes no problems - that I have seen. Again FST not required.

Thanks for the info on the ActiveSync Toggle. I was beginning to believe that this activesync problem was something I would have to just live with.

Look up Activesync killer on google for a little utility that shuts AS down until you turn it back on.

The item that I deleted was located in My Device\Windows\Startup. I don't remember the entire name, but it was something to do with Outlook.

I have not noticed any ill effects resulting from this.

I have a file called poutlook in the Startup directory on my PPC. Is this the file that should be deleted?

On my AXIM AS also switches itself on randomly, I think it might have something to do about opening Calendar. I do not have any problems either but just the fact that AS is on is my problem.
