I had a lot of problems, particularly with the battery going flat but since I upgraded to A012 i've had no problems.

I am a new x51v user, having given up on an hx4700 with respect to the WM5 upgrade.

There is a registry hack for the 4700 to stop activesync when cradled, I haven't tried it on the Axim:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ActiveSync\Engines\{176F 4FFD-F20C-4bd4-BDD7-01D0726C567B}\Settings] SyncAfterTimeWhenCradled (x)
Where x is one of the following:
0=Manually synchronize
5=5 minutes. Default value.
15=15 minutes
30=30 minutes
60=60 minutes
120=2 hours
240=4 hours

I've owned the 4700 and I never did anything to stop activesync from starting and battery life was OK.

BTW I have a used 4705 (in perfect condition from eBay) that I just upgraded to WM% and a brand new in box 51V coming from another seller. Which should I keep and which do I sell?

This hack does in fact work but it also seems that when your computer goes into sleep and wakes up, it tries to sync. This hack doesn't stop that, but it will let your axim's display sleep while you're using your computer.
