X51 and hotmail

hello all newbie here.....I bought an x51 for my wife and she would like to set up her hotmail to be her default email on her axim. I have glanced at some of the posts and I have a couple of questions:

Well, forst, how do you do it??

Second do you have to set it up so that i goes through outlook??? I have seen some posts about extra programs like HTTPMail.

Thanks

I do not believe you can do this without a third party software in between hotmail and your Axim (although I do not use the x51 and it could be different from my x50).

Anyway, as far as I know, you have three options.

1. You can hook hotmail up to Outlook and sync through active sync.

2. You can get a program life Flexmail or qmail, which can also sync up with a hotmail like server.

3. You can check the hotmail through internet explorer, the same as you would on your desktop.

You can set Outlook up to leave email on the server so that it is just a pass thru. I use SBC yahoo mail and I have it going thru Outlook to view it on my X51V and still have the mail available on yahoo to view on my computer. All you have to do is go into the outlook settings and check leave copy of mail on server when you set up the email settings in Outlook.

Thanks for the replys.

From the options dgoldring had listed above, this is what I seem to gather from the forums for each of his 3 suggestions:

1. Need to have a paid hotmail account...also would this option delete emails that I would normally view on the web (from the office lets say) onvce they go thru outlook?

2. seems to be a popular option in the forums. would httpmail be similar to these programs?

3. easiest but you cant to much unless you are online.

Thanks again...I am a retard at this so anything helps!!!!

you can use hotmail with pocket outlook, just click that annoying "tap here to sign in to pocket MSN!" and sign in. Then, tap the mail icon and use it just as any other email account in pocket outlook.

Thats how I use Hotmail on my x51v and it works fine for sending/receiving email from my hotmail account.
