Hi All,

I'm a newbee to this forum so take it easy on me!!
Also this is my first DELL PC of any kind and so far I'm not impressed!!

I got my new Axim x51v (WM5) about 3 weeks ago I have an issue with the unit locking up, meaning if you touch the start (Top left) nothing hapends except it changes colour as if its going to show you the start menu but nothing it just hangs there, until you pop out the SD card (Using scandisk 1.0 GB) then after a second or so it springs into life again, So basically the unit is useless with the SD card in it, I went to the dell site and downloaded the latest update A12 but when I tried to update I found I had version A12.0001 so I take it I have a newer version already on the device, I've browsed through the forum and done the reg edit, also done the fake server trick but still no joy.

Any Ideas??

Do you have any other SD cards to try? I gather you don't have a problem without the sandisk SD card in? Maybe if you reformated the SD card it might solve your problem. Have you done any searching on this site concerning this problem? It seems I remember reading about others having a problem with SD cards.

make sure your sd card is lagit. there have been lots of cunterfit ards on the market latly, especially on ebay...

Hi rcab,

No I dont have another sd card but I did try a CF card and it read the pics on it with no probs so I might just try loading my files on to the CF and see how we go, I've just tried leaving BT on but no Joy.

Thanx for your reply Funny I did get it from Ebay & it was cheap!! I suppose you only get what you pay for hey? I'll try another if I can lay my hands on one.

do you hs\ave a serial numnber off it? dont post it in the forum but contsct sandisk (you did say it was a sandisk right) and run it by them ...

There is a No on the back of it I suppose it's the serial its alphanumeric I'll get in touch with them and see, I have just reformatted and reloaded my aps & tom tom maps and all is OK for now :-) but how long will it last?

i wouldnt count on it lasing more then a month.. from time of purchase... but you can never be sure... if the porblem is fixed however it might jus be that it neededf to be formatted and that it is perfically lagit..
