Axim x51v Refuses to Connect to Home Wireless Network

I just received a new Axim X51v from Dell a couple of days ago, and I can't seem to get the thing to connect to my home wireless network. (Yeah, I know you must be getting sick of these threads!)

I've disabled the WEP encryption, disabled MAC address filtering, and ensured that the router is set to mixed b/g mode. The Axim can see my network and several of my neighbor's networks, but it won't connect to any of them. I've read through the Aximsite Wireless FAQ, but I still haven't found a solution.

I've gone into the network settings, selected the Work network, and made sure the proxy tab showed "connect to the Internet."

I have power save mode disabled.

When I click on the name of my network and select "Connect", it shows "Connecting" for a few seconds, and then goes back to "Available". A few times it got as far as showing "Connected", but never for more than a second or two.

did you try to soft reset your axim? i had this problem too couple of dys ago, I soft reseted it and it works fine now

I had this problem at the beginning of the year when I first got my Axim. I can't remember the actual details of how I solved it, but it involved trial and error on various settings at the base PC. Took about three days.

You could try a search of the various forums

Yes, I did try several soft resets, but so far it hasn't worked. I'll try a hard reset this morning and see if I can connect with a totally clean Axim.

OK, I performed a hard reset and it connects fine with no other programs installed. I guess it could have been some weird conflict or registry error. I'll slowly start loading it up again and see what happens.

I am glad you got the system to work. I had a similar problem and just in case others read this thread:

Remember to check the router setup to see if it has an exclusive connection list - I had to add my Ax to the allowed connection list, separate from the password, etc.

Just a painfully learned FYI
