Aximsiteactivesyncicon X41v constant syncing

I have a new x51v. When it is sitting in the cradle, it syncs every 5 minutes and won't allow me to schedule a manual sync. When it autosyncs so often, it messes up other program installations.

I've hard set the unit and reinstalled the ActiveSync 3 times.

Any ideas how to schedule this? (I could swear I was able to do schedule syncs when I first got the unit. Then I had a freeze in the off mode while it was sitting in the cradle overnight. Had to remove & reinsert battery to get the unit working)

Does it sounds like a hardware corruption may have taken place?

Check out the Fake Server Trick: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=112638
Otherwise: Yes, WM5 likes to keep itself up to date by syncing whenever it can when its inthe cradle and connected to a USB port.

Fake server trick won't help that. You need to get activesync toggle. find it here http://micrologics.co.uk/library/ast/

That is just the way it works.

Thanks for your reply. I got the Toggle program and will try it soon.

I've noticed that if I go to start/settings/memory/running programs and stop/end task on the ActiveSync, that will also stop the Axim syncing every 5 minutes. Do you see any down side to this?

From the sound of other posts I've read, the FST is useful primarily to stop the Axim from attempting to sync in the background off cradle, thus temporarily interfering with other memory intensive tasks. It seems to do nothing to stop the syncing between the Axim and the PC.

Would you recommend upgrading to the ActiveSync 4.2 just out?

Thanks again!:) :)

I downloaded ActiveSync toggle. When I double-click the file, a box appears on the desktop which allows me to toggle off and on. But it doesn't appear to have any minimize setting or icon that makes it work like other programs. I always seem to have to double-click the file to make it active.

Is that the way it is supposed to act?

Do you have to keep the box active on the desktop until you're done with it?

Thanks for your info. Why on earth were ActiveSync and WM5 made by default to sync every 5 minutes if it is sitting in the cradle?

Anybody try to sync using Blue Tooth?

Another idea is to unplug your cardle USB from your PC. Can be a bit of a pain, but managable if you have free USB port on the front of your PC. Another option would be to switch to BT syncing - that's what I did :)
