Looking for complete working X51 ROM dump
...or Bootloader for A01 or A12. Please, ! I've interrupted firmware update process and after trying reflashing OS from SD-card only can see "Dell-screen".
By the way, self test displays letter Z on flashing test and "Pass" on all others. What does this letter "Z" mean?
P.S.: Please, if files are larger then 5MB then either upload them onto any file-sharing service or send me in few letters split in 5MB pieces so that encoded letter size not exceed 10MB. E-mail: Larik007@rambler.ru

I have already read this topic for hundred times but there is no useful information about bootloader. Especially where to take it...
I have no another working X51 to dump it so the only way for me is to get it from the Internet.
I've searched for bootloader on X51 for no results...
As I understand there are both Bootloader and OS compacted into .img file. And the 'img2nb0' utility only extracts OS. Maybe there is a way to make it to extract a Bootloader?

I need an x51v dump as well.
I'm in the same boat as this guy. My girlfriend bricked hers (stops loading at 80%) and since it wasn't covered she bought a new one and game me her bricked one. So far I've tried using the grab_it dump util on her working one mentioned here to no avail and read later it doesn't work for x51v's. I then tried using the SD methods covered here. As I don't have a bootloader I was trying to flash my stuff with an A12 ROM but kept getting a checksum error message. My current on-system bootloader is an A10_G3. I suppose that has a lot to do why I'm not getting anywhere. Reguardless If someone knows there wherabouts of a full x51v rom (any version) I'd be in thier dept.

The Bootloader's already in the Axim, even after the ROM update fails. Follow the instructions in the first post to create the .nb0 ROM image file you'll need the BootLoader to run in order to complete an Axim ROM flash. If you can get the A12 ROM, then run the EXE file, it'll create a directory like "C:\Dell\Drivers\R129272\ROM\English" where you can find the IMG file. That IMG file is used with the utility linked to in the first post in order to create an .nb0 file which you use to resurrect it. You MUST press the buttons the way ami007 instructs in the post I linked above to enter BootLoader mode, and then reflash your .nb0 file onto the device. I'm sorry if I'm sounding patronizing, but it's amazing how often it's the simple things that get you.

You'll need a pre-A12 ROM for that one, as A12 used AKU 2.3.1 as listed in the first post. Something from A06, perhaps, as found on the Dell site: A06 ROM

Ok, well I've dumped the A06 ROM and converted it using the tool used here: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=137015
Giving it a length of 41943040. I also used the second util in that post that auto builds the length of the ROM and I've flashed them both and it still hiccups at the Dell loading screen. I'm beginning to think this is a lost cause, I'm searching for the post to run a status check on the system.

To Haesslich:
I've tried to reflash OS with A12 and A04 roms following instructions described in few topics (.exe->.img->.nb0 etc) for tens of times. I'm sure I've been using right button combinations. It's not about me that it still not work. I starting to think it's hardware problem. But I still have the last thing to try - to flash bootloader. So that's why I need it. Still...
BTW: Self-test combination: Quick-press Reset while holding Power and Record buttons.

Thanks. I have a working x51v and I've tried to dump the ROM but when I flash it, my bricked one doesn't even turn on, I had to reflash it with another (A12-A06) from the dell site to get the dell bluescreen lockup again. So I need either a method that works for a x51v or a known working rom package.

I've been playing with loading a modified ROM recently on my X51v and at first I got checksum errors as well. I eventually discovered that it must have been the SD card I was using. Even though it was formated to FAT32 my 512MB and 1GB cards would not work. I put the same image on a 128MB SD card and it worked.
So if anyone is getting checksum errors try a different SD card.

Hmm.. I've used a 1 gig sandisk SD and I only had checksum errors when my girlfriends PC kept adding a .txt extention to the .crc file, but mine flashes and then just doesn't boot. Which is strange because the internal tests all come back passing, besides a singular green zero.

Hey "Larik007"
Did you ever find a bootloader for x51v?
I want to "downgrade" from A12 back to A06 but I know that the bootloader is not allowing it.
Any ideas?
THANKS!
P.S. Just posted in general X51 forum to see if anyone can help in reverting back to A06.
