all of a sudden i can't connect to the computer

activsync does not detect the device anymore and doesn't connect!

i reinstalled activsync, i restarted, i checked if the cords were plugged in and nothing..
when it connects it says com port 1: available. com port 3:available but it doesn't connect! i did the firewall thing even though it was never a problem.
when i click on activsync from the axim the bar pops up and goes away in less than a second.
and via computer it doesn't work...
any help please?

I had the same problem just a couple of weeks ago. I restored my computer to a time when it did sync. That was the only thing that worked.

Before I did that, I updated to the latest Activesync, but that did not work. I also soft reset, which did not work, then I did a hard reset, which also didn't work. I completely uninstalled ActiveSync and reinstalled it, also didn't work, but I suspect registry settings which were not written over by the reinstall. My problem was definitely in the computer and not the Axim.

Good luck, I know how frustrating this can be!

i think it may have something to do with me using MemMaid
I used it last night to get rid of the queue notifications that were popping up when soft-resetting the device and all of a sudden this morning the device can't be detected

USB Active Sync problems

I too am plagued with this problem of syncing with the cable.

I have had this problem twice. The first time I encountered the problem was right after I had plugged in a USB port expander. There was some sort of update to the USB driver (I think) and then I could only sync using the IR port.

I restored my computer and regained the sync capability.

About 6 months later I plugged in some other new USB device and lost active sync capability again. But this time it was awhile before I noticed and I did not want to restore so I have been relugated to sync via IR ever since. I did use to have the ability to connect and explore my device which allowed me to install programs and such but I have lost that now.

I deleted my device, reinstalled actvie sync and resetup the relationship but now still cannot reconnect.

I think we need a Dell Guru who knows something about this to help us out.

I used a toshiba for 3 years before buying this dell and I never had a problem with syncing. nothing but trouble with this device.

Dell - if you could fix this it would be great.,

This is just another data point in non-syncing behavoir. I installed Windows DDK, continued to work like a champ! After I uninstall the DDK, it stopped working. I re-install DDK it goes back to working!

I had the same experience as femel above. My only solution to sync was to restored my computer to a time when it did sync and it worked. It wasn't the axim but the XP PC that was the problem.

Has anyone ever gotten Outlook to sync with their x51v? After 4 useless hours with Dell the "help" recommended that I reformat the hard drive on my PC. I removed the and reinstalled outlook and active sync at least five times with no success. I can copy files to the x51v but no luck on calendar, tasks, contacts or anything else Outlook related. Since it never worked I can't do a restore point. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
