X50V Internal speaker not working

My internal speaker has stopped working. Earphones are fine. Can't find anything muted.
It has also strted flattening the battery overnight. It is set to power off in 4 minutes but I think when an appointment alarm window comes on it stays on. (I don't hear the alarm either because fo the speaker fault.)

I hope it is not physical damage. Does anyone have any ideas?

There have been several other threads that mention the sticking of the headphone jack switch as the cause, and suggest inserting/removing headphones several times to loosen it up.

Yes, the switch is a big issue (tormented me since ipaq days). Simple solution: try some different jacks untill you manage to loosen the contacts a bit. Hard solution: open the pda and try to loose the contact with a needle (granted to work). Super Hard solution: open up the pda and change the internal connector (done this on the ipaq)

Thanks for the tips. Pushing the jack in and out and wiggling it a bit worked. It was a bit erratic at first but seems Ok now.

Now if only I can stop the battery going flat. I have had a search on the site. Mine seems to be related to the apointment remender in PI coming on and staying on. It doesn't seem to happen if there is no appointment coming up, and I sometimes find the appointment window on and dimmed. The fact that I couldn't hear the reminder didn't help. If it keeps up I might try reinstalling PI.
