I think I killed it

HELP! I think I killed my Axim51v. It tells me my memory is critically low and now it's got a mind of its own. Won't show me all my programs, my start button drop down has completely changed. I've tried soft reset, does nothing and i almost think I hear the thing laughing at me. What have I done?

2 words for you:

hard reset

that will clear out memeory if you cant get it cleared otehrwise. Also, there's a chance you got one of the rare PPC Viruses, if you think this IS a problem you might want to look into a virus program like AntiVir Moble... I thiem Macafee has one too, but I dont care for that company much...

I agree, a hard reset should take care of this, b/c ur device still works.

Wow, you guys should work for Dell. I don't think I would try a hard reset as the first thing to try unless you have a good backup first. If not then try to see if your memory is really full. Do you install everything to your "device" or do you use sd/cf cards? If you are installing everything to the device then try uninstalling a few programs first to see if it clears it up.

Try also to check the programs actually running on the device, sometimes they remain loaded into memory, causing a big downfall in usage. If you cannot solve the problem, make a backup and then hard reset the device. Then try to install programs one after another checking every time for possible problems.

Tap start, tap home, tap memory, tap running programs, tap stop all, tap OK. Let us know if this fixes your problem.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll be gone all day.

Traffic lights that are set for 35 are also set for 70

Indeed this is the way to go before a hard reset!

At the same time, it will allow you to check exactly how much memory is left, and maybe you can aquire more by way of the slider. (Although I have an Axim x50v, not sure if memory managment is the same on mine as it is with your x51v)

It does indeed sound like you have too many programs running, and should stop them all, or at least what your not surrently using!

Good Luck!

Wow...Tough times call for drastic measures.
I would follow the advice of Stomp and BigDave first.

Yes, i suppose u could get out of it without a hard reset, but i was confirming with him an easy way to prove that ur axim is not "dead"...
