This sounds like a problem I had, it was caused by my USB SD/CF card reader.

Unplug the card reader (and anything else USB that you don’t need). Plug the Axim cradle directly into the PC, not through a USB hub. Reset the computer and rerun the Dell update util.

Until the flash process if 100% complete, the 'hard reset' doesn't function like a real hard reset. Just continue the update process until it is complete.

Big Smile

Good point. I should have mentioned that in my case the update failed. After that, whenever I attempted a hard reset it would flash up for a second and not actually hard reset itself, I thought the device was foobar for sure. The update always failed until I removed the SD/CF card reader.

USB SD/CF card on my PC ... unplug it. ;) Remove everything USB that you can and run the update after rebooting your PC with no other programs running.

Troubles to do a hard reset too.

I had this same trouble triying to update my Axim X51V Bios trough a Laptop Dell Inspiron 5150 using an USB along a USB Hard Drive connected at the same time.

Checking your exerience, I can note some mistakes with the USB ports. I will try tomorrow at the office.

Thanks. Godiscar - Toluca, Mexico.
