Misreports "Battery Latch was opened"

Hi,

My Axim a couple of times and our goes into standby while I am in the middle of using it, and when I start it again it tells me it was put into standby because the battery latch was opened.

I suppose it's something mechanical -- an overly sensitive switch or something. Anyone know where it is, or if it can be tweaked in any way?

Thanks,

Paul

Under the battery door. A piece of masking tape on the right post will keep the switch depressed.

I used scotch tape but trimmed it down to the size of the end of the leg and used two layers and that worked fine. Also you can put a small drop of nail polish on the end of the leg and let it dry VERY well and it will work too.

Hi Guys,

I wish I had read this before... I've just done a Rebuild...

Not to worry, I've used a tiny bit of paper as opposed to tape and issue fixed!

Well spotted, whoever noticed that the issue was mechanical:approve:

Cheers

Just bumping this topic, as I'm having this problem too, and I can't have it shutting off in the middle of note taking. So, can someone post a pic of what they did or something? I'm not following what you guys are saying to do. Thanks.

Hi, Jo(?) --

I finally found the location of that switch. It is located in the latch that holds the cover down. On the body of the axim, just by the slide button that opens the latch, are two recessed holes which accept the two hooks of the latch on the cover. It's those hooks that hold the latch closed, and press on the recesses switch at the bottom of one of those holes. Take the stylus and push down on the bottom of the holes and you will find one (I think the left one?) gives when you push it. Hold it down, & try to turn on the axim. If it works, you found the switch. I put a drop of glue on the end of the hook of the cover, and let it dry -- just to increase its effective length. now it works fine.
