How to open X51v unit

Hi guys just wanted to know if I can open up the Axim x51v unit to clean the screen from inside, I made little bit of mess while trying to clean the headphone jack with some WD40 cleaner, entire screen has spill marks on it from inside.

Thank u!

Welcome to Aximsite!

I believe there are screws under the little rubber feet at the back. Do realize you will void the warranty though.

....and for those of thinking about spraying WD40 inside your Axim, or any electronic device, NEVER , NEVER , NEVER do this. WD40 is an excellent conductor of electricity, and may fry the circuit board inside.

Just to widen the thread a bit, while WD 40 is an excellent product, which I have not been without for 25+ years, it is not a miracle cure-all, and can be quite corrosive over time (although it's a lubricant, from the odour it is kerosine based, which means water)

WD-40 is very good for cleaning the contacts.. but I always sprayed it on a q-tip.. then gently clean audio jacks.

WD-40 DOES NOT conduct electricity. I been using it to clean electronics for years!
I would NOT spray in into anything like a Axim though!

No suggestions here for the screen cleaning, and I'm sure you've heard "don't do that again" enough to know not to do that again.

About WD-40. The name of this product has meaning. The WD stands for Water Displacer. It is the 40th formula. WD-40 is not a good lubricant. It also is not a good contact cleaner. It does not conduct electricity.

If I were to clean the headphone jack on my X51V, I'd use an electronic contact cleaner applied to the plug on my headphones. Then I'd plug it into the jack a few times.

My favorite cleaner is available at Radio Shack and comes with a little brush attached to the top.

Good luck with the cleaning project.
