Ways to not use the touchscreen

I want to embed an X51 in a sensor that will limit access to the touchscreen. Is there any way to run the X51 using only the navigator keys?

That's entirely an application-level thing. If the application is written to operate completely using the navigation pad then the answer is "yes". It's not a matter of what the device itself is capable of.

You can also assign various commands to the navigation keys.
