Battery Drainage on WM5 is it suppose to be that bad

I have scoured the forums and have been trying all kinds of things.
I have HW a12 RomA12
Wisbar advance2.7.0.1
Ilauncher 3.0.0.1
Pocket Breeze 5.103
PI 2007 rev.1 build 677
TCMP 0.71 with all plugins.
Iguidance3.0NA

I Luv my X51V on Mugen 1800maH, only gripe is the battery drainage. I cant believe the amount of juice this thing sucks up, is it that normal? On a fully charged/overnite LED light green, if i unplug and just do general PIM it drains down to like 90% in <5min. Same situation Fully Charged/led green...If i soft reset 1x it drains to like 95% soft reset again 90%. Fully charged/overniteer again. SPB Backup after softreset its down to 90/89%, I cant believe this normal. I have unchecked variious meters in my today plugins, with and without any PLUGINS enabled on startup its the same, the battery seems to drain way to fast.
I know this batter is good, it ran flawlessy never even reaching 60-70% even with BT-GPS active for 2hour. On a 10min route battery drains down to like 60-70%
Is this behavior Normal?????
Do I have a faulty unit??????

Quick question. Do you have Wifi on. Cause if you do that will really suck down the battery. Wifi draws more power than anything else on a Dell Axim in my experience. Even more power than the screen+backlight at max.

If you don't have Wifi on. Then it may be a problem with activesync. If it is scheduled to check to often it can run down the battery very quickly. Reason every time activesync turns on the processor revs. up. This increases battery drain.

No WIFI on, just PIM and it will drain down to 10% in <2min.
If I take my Axim off the cradle, meter reading 100%, LED green...within 5s it already drains to 99-98%....just taking off cradle.
I have hard reset, and restored.....Thank goodness for SPB backup...worked flawlessly.
I guess Im just used to WM2003se, battery life which was EXCELLENT....

Oh yea....I have utilized the Active Sync fake server hack

Does your unit also show the same discharge rate with the regular Dell battery?

Then, it suggests that your device is the problem. Have you tried your batteries in a different device? That would confirm the source of the problem.

I actually just came on here to ask the same thing. I just got my axim and it does the same thing. 2 different batteries. I'm just mainly listening to MP3's on the way to work and watching video at lunch. I'm getting about 2 1/2 hours out of a battery with just that.
My old X5 I could get 6-7 hours and still have plenty of battery left.

So far not so impressed with the "upgrade" to X51v.

over the past two weeks i've had my x51v be dead every morning with a dead battery. i did that fake server trick. heck it was installed almost day 1. i even used memmaid and cleaned out a few notifications that i thought might be waking it up.

really annoying when you want to log in first thing in the morning and you're battery is dead. maybe i'll call dell for a new unit?

Same problem here. Got my Axim last week and its new from Dell (Austria).
The battery works for 1 hour when I phone via skype. If I use it for normal PIM it lasts 3-4hrs and if I play some games it lasts 2-3hrs at least. I also did the Active Sync hack.
Mine is A04. Is there any possibility to upgrade to A06 or A12? Maybe this would solve the problem.

This is so frustrating. I've had my X51v since just after it came out and it has always been the same story. The battery drains extremely fast and I rarely even attempt to use it mostly for that reason. Wifi is virtually useless since it drains the battery so quickly you'd have to be a speed typist to send a quick text message. I've done the fake server trick and upgraded to the latest bios. I have all the reminders turned off and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I'm terribly disappointed with this device. The only thing it's good for is synchronizing my home and work desktops and, in the office, even this is a terrible process that involves rebooting and many tries. My next Axim will be an IPhone.

That's strange. I've had my axim since last october but I never had this battery drainage that you guys were talking about. My fully charged axim goes down to 99% after ~2 min of WiFi. But I think this is normal.

btw, even if you did the fake server trick, make sure you completely TURN OFF activesync either manually or using 3rd party utilities like magic button everytime after you sync.

how does an electronic device like the axim measure the power remained in a battery? are you saying that the axim charge meter couldn't recognize the larger battery?
