How do I sync my contacts? it's driving me nuts!

I've got an X51v, and I have the stock goodies, have installed outlook 2002 onto my laptop with sp3 - have contacts that I've added in contacts on my handheld in addition to separate ones that I've added in outlook 2002, and they won't sync. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong? Contacts is in the Sync list, as well as notes and just about everything else, but nothing is coming or going. I can still put pictures etc into the WM_ folder and they sync, but the others dont. Any help out there in the land of the internets?

ZDW

Come to think of it, I don't really know how this activesync is supposed to work. On the PC it says connecting, and on the handheld it just says synchronizing.

Hi,
Try deleting the profile for the PDA in Active Sync. Active Sync on the PC should say "Connected" and then it will sync. Normally you don't have to do anything on the PDA to start the sync. I use the cradle to sync.

Also, check to see if you have the latest version of Active Sync. If not, download it from Microsoft's website.

Mike, thanks for your input.

Well... I did the things that you suggested but still no joy. I've got Active Sync 4.5 beta, but that's not working any better than 4.2 worked. I've gone into my firewalls program control and addess access to everything to do with activesync's processes. I've deleted the handheld from activesync on the PC and then deleted the profile from the handheld as well. Started over and still nothing. It just keeps saying Synchronizing on both the handheld and the computer, but nothing is getting done. It's a real mystery to me.

anyone else have any ideas?

Can you disable Check Point client to see if that's causing the problem?

There is a registry edit here for use with Sygate FW. You might give that a shot also.

EUREKA!~ I shut down check point client and it synced just fine. OK... so I guess I just have to shut down the firewall to sync. That's not so bad I suppose... did someone say there was a reg fix for this?

YAY! I'm going to bed a happier man now.

THANKS!:approve:

Here is the link. It may or may not solve your problem. It solved mine but I use Sygate firewall.

There is a thread here at AximSite that has a link to the Microsoft post regarding configuring firewalls for use with ActiveSync. Search and ye shall find.
