No more sounds!

I've got a big problem with my x51v: I've lost all the sounds (both system and multimedia ones)!

It's not the settings>sounds&notifications, 'cause the boxes are all ticked, and with my earphones I hear everything...

I have just tried with a hard-reset, but... it's still mute!

Is there any setting for a "earphones out" to deactivate (even if I think the hard-reset should have solved this)? Any idea?

more info?

Could you give a little more information? For example, what did you do immediately prior to losing the sound? Has the unit been taken apart? Did the sound just work one moment and then quit the next?

Well... it's not easy to tell: usually I had the system sounds turned off, so I dont know exactly when the sound disappeared.

I realize that I had a problem when I miss a reminder notification because I didn't hear it. So I tryed to listen a mp3, and I got no sound (even if I can listen to every sound with my earphones).

I'm sure that I never dropped the axim... maybe I could have installed some software which caused the problem, but I think that a hard-reset shoud have solved that...
:(

There is a little button in the earphones socket that detects the earphones and so turns off the internal speaker and it seems that it sometimes gets stuck. I cleaned my socket out (dusty... :( ) some time ago and lost the internal speaker but managed to get it back with a couple of insert-wiggle-remove cycles with a headphone connector.

Others report using a toothpick and picking at a contact about halfway down the socket helps. There are some threads around here somewhere about it but I can't fine them, sorry.

THANKS!!!!

At the beginning, I was very worried, 'cause I already tried to move the earphones plug and to insert the stylus in the socket (my insight was right!! :) ) without any result.

After your answer I was sure that the real problem was the socket, so I removed the CF card and pushed a little metal connector just near the earphone side.

I dont know if this worked, or if it was the stylus movement in the earphone socket... but... uh... NOW MY AXIM CAN SPEAK AGAIN!! :) :) :)

Thanks a lot!

I plugged a new headphone lead into my X51 to connect it to my TomTom cradle and after that the internal speaker no longer works. It seems from this forum that this is not uncommon. Will try the solutions posted and let you know how I get on.

Morning guys

I just wanted to add my thanks here, since I was having the smae trouble as Pegli.

However, once I followed Mokubai's instructions, my Axim is now working wonderfully again.

The power of user forums strikes again!

Many thanks

Paddy
