some of SD card capacity disappeared

Can anyone help me out with this one?

I have a 2Gb SD card (Kingston) which was supplied with my X51v last summer. All has been well with it until today. When I view the properties of the card both on the Axim and on my laptop (Built in SD reader) there is only 26mb free space.

Going through the files and directories I can only count up about 600mb of used files (music, tomtom maps, docs, progs etc), and a 514mb mpg file which I have just ripped from a DVD (with lots of help from various postings on this site - thanks!). S o where has the rest of my 800-900mb gone.

Yesterday I was reading the full 2Gb, and I had cleared out some space so I had about 1Gb to play with mpg's. I had also tried an mpg file of a film that I had tried to rip ages ago and hadn't worked well - so deleted again. Curiously this file was just over 800mb, however after deleting the space had apparently returned.

Have installed a couple of other programs in the meantime aswell, which I guess may have issues with this - TCPMP and Batmemtime - which both loaded fine and are running as expected.

Any ideas, or is the card just duff?

Appreciate any thoughts

Andy

when you deleted the file off your card if it was in a card reader on your pc then sometimes you have to empty the trash on your pc for the deletion to be completed try putting the card backin your pc reader and empty trash
