Well, in the old days Psion also created synchronization software for PC but not for Mac. Psion is neither MS or Apple controlled. The reason why they only produced for MS was because most people use MS. And they made it free. If you wanted to sync with Apple you would have to pay for a special application. Palm on the other hand has supported both MS and Apple and as you can see it has not really helped them stay on top of market share. If it is not profitable to do so then it is not likely that a business will do it. Also it makes since to me that MS would have no motivation to make it easy to use its products with a competitor. Have you noticed that you cannot synchronize iTunes with an Axim. Evil Jobs and his arrogant capitalist avarice are responsible in this case. You have to buy an iPod!!! And then they keep changing the iTunes format to make it difficult to build a translator. Apple is a corporate monolith trying to create a music download monopoly. Why can't Jobs be more like that fine philanthropist and savior to Africa, Mr. Gates? Also, my wife is a Mac user, and I have noticed that almost all programs she buys for her Mac are much more expensive than the ones I get for my PC. It is not MS that makes the developers charge more. Now if you are willing to pay a premium for Apple products why not pay $40 or $50 for a synchronization program that is superior to ActiveSync in so many ways? If I could find a good synchronization program for the PC I would pay for it. Problem is, I need to synchronize my Access data. None of the alternatives out there will do that for me. It does not appear to be profitable for the other software developers to make a sync program that will synchronize with Access. Mac is a great product and you pay a lot for it. So just pay the money. No one is forcing you to use an expensive product. If you want cheep, go Linux and build your own open source synchronization software. Then share it with us all. I would suppose that would not be profitable for you and will not likely happen. Well, I have said enough.
