I purchased a Transcend 4gb CF card from newegg.com recently and it works great in my x51 Axim. It is the TS4GCF45 card and is priced at $31.99 as of today. The SDHC or High Capacity cards do not work in the axims from what I have read in the aximsite forums. Transcend also offers higher speed cards on newegg.com depending on what kind of transfer rates you are looking for.
I just got a X51v - it's actually my 3rd since I had to send 2 back - and it's insanely slow opening Tasks. Dell chat support says there's an issue of incompatability between all of the Axims - but especially the newer ones using Windows Mobile 5.0 - and Outlook 2003. He says the Axims were designed to work with Outlook 2002 instead.
Anybody else hear that? Sounds a little fishy to me. They say they'll research it internally and get back to me. I'm not holding my breath. I may have to send this one back and get my money back, although I hear this model supposedly really rocks - when it works.

I'd say this was the wrong thread to ask about slow Tasks loading. :D This was about 'does SDHC work with Axim x51v'...
That being said, I use Outlook 2002 SP3, and have no issues with Tasks. But then again, I check my Tasks with PocketBreeze, and have Pocket Informant handling all of my PIM functions.
Compatibility with 2 gigabyte and larger SD cards has been poor, due to the SD/MMC protocol using a 32-bit address field denominated in bytes. The SDHC standard addresses this limitation by using 32-bit block addresses instead. Both SD and SDHC are traditionally accessed as 512-byte blocks on 512-byte boundaries, so the change to host software or firmware is minor but required. Before SDHC was standardized, various manufacturers "extended" the SD control block fields for their 2GB and 4GB cards in different ways. Those cards are incompatible with many SD and some SDHC devices, as they conform to neither standard. All SDHC readers work with standard SD cards.[10]
Many older devices will not accept the 2GB size even though it is in the revised standard. The following statement is from the SD association specification:
"To make 2GByte card, the Maximum Block Length (READ_BL_LEN=WRITE_BL_LEN) shall be set to 1024 bytes. However, the Block Length, set by CMD16, shall be up to 512 bytes to keep consistency with 512 bytes Maximum Block Length cards (Less than and equal 2GByte cards)."[11]
Since all cards up to and including the 1GB card use a fixed 512 block size, some device drivers do not handle the larger block size and will not even recognize the 2GB card.[citation needed] Citation for this is more difficult as the SD organization hides this problem. SanDisk web site shows examples of devices such as the iPAQ 1910 that will only support 1GB cards and the Epson Photo RX300 Technical support says they only support 1GB cards in the SD slot.[citation needed] Many early card readers only support 1GB, based on user experiences.[citation needed]
[edit] SDHC
A new SD format, SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity), allows capacities in excess of 2GB (4GB to 32GB)[12]. SDHC uses the same form factor as SD, but the SD 2.0 standard in SDHC uses a different memory addressing method (sector addressing vs byte addressing[13]). SDHC cards only work in SDHC compatible devices, but standard SD cards work in both SD and SDHC devices. The SDHC trademark is licensed to ensure compatibility.[14]
All it does is reinforce what everyone has said, SDHC will not work in an SD-only reader.
Seriously, I would like SDHC to work, but ressurecting lots of old threads to vent because you didn't look around and check compatability before buying isn't the way to go.
Honestly, I feel for you, I really do. I have a 4GB normal SD and I was a gnats testicle away from getting a rather small SDHC paperweight which is good for holding 1 sheet of paper in a vacuum. I want these things to work, but without proper hardware developers who know the X51v hardware like the back of their hands there is absolutely nothing we can do, and considering it is an HTC product designed for Dell (and likely has an NDA between the two companies) there is a snowflake in hells chance that we're going to see anyone who knows the actual hardware involved and software / hardware modifications necessary.
Sorry, it's just the way it is.

A little
That makes no sense. Thats like saying vista is more compatible with office 2003 than it is with office 2007, which is a lie.
