ActiveSync Dumb Question-User Control

This may be stupid, but here goes. Is there any way to use the cradle for charging daily, but not be forced to have active sync running in the background, and it synching every time I cradle the Axim for charging? Thanks in advance.

You can turn off ActiveSync and it won't sync. You can also leave ActiveSync running and remove the check on all components getting sync with the Axim.

If you plug the AC power into the cradle, you can unplug the USB connection and cradle it just to charge.

Can I ask a dumb question: why would you not want to sync?

It may not always be necessary to sync and if your PC or laptop is low on RAM it may take a long time everytime to sync.

I agree with the first part of your reply; it may not always be necessary! Nonetheless, the combined processes in the Activesync application (the two that I can find anyway (WCESMgr & wcescomm)) consume less than 9,000k of memory whilst a continuous connection is established; hardly resource hogging. Even on connection and the initial sync, my CPU barely broke a sweat for the few seconds that connection took.

Moreover, AS will only sync if there are changes to the information tagged for synchronisation and not continuously.

If the pc or laptop is that low on memory, Activesync is likely to be the least of your worries.

You may well be correct but did you consider your CPU processing power in relation to multitasking for less capable CPUs i.e slower or older systems. I'm only guessing.
