I wouldn't. It's tightly enough sealed that you probably won't have any significant dust or anything in there. I don't even see anything accumulating between the SD and CF cards and I've had the thing for 2 years. Don't worry about it. You're just looking for something to do.

Huh? How could you have it for 2 years if it hasn't even been out that long!

Well, I like carry it in my pocket and trust me...link gets in there! :P

Well, you could just throw it in the washer on the delicate cycle with your special underthings, but I wouldn't recommend it.

You only said axim but not which model of axim, so there are axims that have been around for more than two years.

I'm sure there can't be a lot of dust on the inside. Probably only dust in the button edges and in the card slots. Try cleaning with a air duster as mentioned before.

axims are sealed and it would hardly get dirty inside.
are you using a case for your axim?

i also carry my axim in my pocket with the case that came with the box, do dirt here.

I have an X50 (not X51) and, yes, I've had it over 2 years. (Got mine in Dec '04 also Wendy!) The hardware is basically the same. I keep it in a nice leather flip-cover case and it's in nearly new condition. I don't 'spose I'd mind getting an X51 but there ain't nothin' wrong with this one!

You must have awfully dirty pockets if you can get dust INSIDE a sealed plastic case like that. It's not like the thing has air holes or anything.

Be sure to take out relevant insurance to cover portable devices should your expedition into the unknown go weary.

I would not do this to my Axim, and suggest you don't do it to yours.

I did buy a phone from eBay, and the buttons were sticking. I took it to work and into the lab (I work as an embedded software engineer) and opened it, and cleaned it. I needed it. I found several white hairs, looks like cat or maybe dog hairs, and lots of lint perhaps from someones pocket.
