try a soft reset at the freeze, if that doesn't help take out the battery and leave it for half an hour or so. replace battery and see what happens HTH:)

If the OP can get to the point where he/she has a choice to press to clear all data or to cancel, I doubt it's the lock switch.

I disagree. Perhaps I picked the OP up wrong.

1- it was unresponsive
2- tried reset but doesn't do anything

My disclaimer is that the following does this on my x51v a12

My suggestion is quite feasible, try simulating it. Flick the switch to lock. You have just simulated to the unknowing a dead screen. Now press the power button inconjunction with the back button. You now arrive at the 'clear data' screen. You can now say you want to progress I.e 'contacts button' but guess what....you don't...cause that lock button is still on.

Just ma tuppins worth mam

Ah, well, since you have the X51v and I do not...I'll take your word for it.

But I have to say that I have read a lot of posts about upgrade A12 an most peeps have soft reset and gone on, to successfully upgrade and applying these thoughts to this thread ?if you hard reset without completing, and not soft reset, and HR,HR,HR,HR,HR,HR could it be possible to brick? Corrupt original image?

I can say removing the battery and replace it on freezes (with it unlocked lol) has saved me from many hard resets. You don't need to leave the battery out long either. 5 seconds will work.:) Sure beats a hard reset and backup .:)

I have to admit this one I can put down to experience. I felt a right tube but it is easy to miss the obvious ones.

Agree with you all as regards battery and soft reset.

Hope the OP lets us know how he got on.
