Anytime I want to load mp3 files on to my CF card of my Axim, I remove the card from the Axim and place it in my card reader of my pc. Much faster downloads.
Well now that I've placed the card back in my Axim the apps on the card don't load. Even after a restore. I can sync but my things on the card are not loading.
I can go to file Explorer and see all the files but...
What do you mean that the apps don't load? You say that you can see them on the card. You see them in the file manager on your PC, or in the file manager of the Ax? Try typing "sync" at the CLI before removing the card from the card reader.
Hi dotan and thanks for your reply. obviously the moron above you has no clue, nor did he read what I posted. What an asshole to take up space in a thread just to show his 14 year old wasted brain!
ok, now where was I? lol!
let me explain further. Like most I'm sure, I install most programs on either my CF or SD cards. However for example, I listen to a few podcasts that sometimes might amount to a couple of hundred megs. Rather than drag from my pc Desktop to the Axim, I would take the card out of the Axim and place it in my pc card reader and transfer to the card that way. As you know, it is MUCH faster.
I was hoping I could get to Add/Remove Programs from my pc (for the Axim) so I could could reinstall that way but...
Problem is since my last transfer, now that I've placed the card back in my Axim, I can't run any of the programs on that card. within the Axim/File Explorer I can see all the folders etc, they just won't execute. I get a popup saying "...unable to execute the file... you might need to reinstall..."
Can you explain what you mean ?
"Try typing "sync" at the CLI before removing the card from the card reader."
jus leave the CF Card in the axim when u sync ,u can't be THAT impatient.
what did you think, I was wanting to transfer just 1, 2mb files of your favorite nsync mp3's songs?
another dumbass, trolling into threads where he has no clue.
Do a sync with the card installed in the Axim. In AS manager, go to tools, ADD/Remove programs will be available, uncheck locate to default location, then in pop up box select CF card. After complete do a soft reset.

I don't listen to nsync,if u have a microdrive it is often very hard to remove from ur axim and maybe the fact ur removing the card is causin the executables to break away from the registry entry which could cause those programs not to run,try soft resetting.
u also jus said u sync mp3s which made me think u was adding music, try converting those mp3s to wma which is smaller, faster to transfer and is less weight on the cpu usage in the axim
I've had problems writing files to CF/SD cards via a card reader and in my case it was because I removed the card before Windows had finished writing to the card. Windows writes data via a write buffer and it may be some time (several minutes) before the data in the buffer is actually written to the card.
You can force Windows to write the contents of the buffer by selecting the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the System Tray and selecting the CF or SD card. Windows should then write any data left in the buffer and report that the card can be safely removed from the system. You might have to try more than once though.
Shutting down Windows also writes any buffered data.
JohnDaddyo, I hope you find a resolution to your problems, but we are all here to find and give help. I don't believe it is ever necessary to use foul language towards another. Perhaps you need to act like a gentleman.

dude, first of all the "foul language" you refer to was "dumbass" and "asshole" Although the fella and I will surely work our differences out, I think most of us can handle the word dumbass, as it is indeed not foul, but rather comical sometimes. don't ya think?!
As far as asshole, well ya know when people jump on to a thread and don't even help but instead, .... ahhh, that's just the way it is.
nuff said on all that, ok?
peace.

Hi and thank you for your reply too! I should and should have said I am using Vista with the new Sync Center.
I have tried syncing many times while the card is in the Axim and cradle. I get "sync failed" and unfortunately, I cannot get to Add Remove so I'm not able to do what you suggest...much to my dismay.
another possibility is that there is too much data in the 'root' directory. Try putting the files you transfer into their own folder and see if that helps. I forget what the limit is for file sizes in \ but there definately is a limit.
Hi deskdata and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, thank you for your input for sure!
I did what you said plus a system restore and voila!!
Back in business!!
So considering what I was wanting to do, transfer a fairly large amount of data from pc to CF card.
Should I NOT pull the card from the Axim and just leave it in??
Although if someone is transfering 100's of mbs it could be...tedious :)
