Battary Drain

Hi all,

I've searched the forum for my issue and haven't came up with any specific answers.

Problem:
I have a Dell Axim x51v and have been using a Mugen Power extended battery. I've been using the battery for over 8 months now. Recently the battery life after a full charge decreases very fast. I've verified I don't have any programs running that may drain the battery this quickly. Each day the drain just increases so the time I have on battery power decreases.

Is this normal? Anything I can do to possibly extend the battery life? Should I just buy another battery at this point?

Appreciate any feedback.

Thank you.

-Mike

***EDIT***
Actually I've had this since April 2006. Probably just normal wear and tear. Going to try and see if Aximcases.com covers it under warranty or not.

do you still have the old battery? it its life is still ok then you most likely have a bad battery. 8 months isn't a very long life though. you may want to contact Mugen before buying another battery.

I think I have the standard battery somewhere so I'll have to hunt that down and use it for now. I'll get in touch with Mugen to see if they can help.

Thanks for the response.

Battery drain

Hi,

Hope you got a new battery and the problem is fix. I did have a similar problem. Actually I bough a new higher capacity battery and thinking the battery is not good enough but in vain. I found out is because I have installed a program that really drain off the battery. I removed the program and did hard reset. It work fine. Please give you backup and install them one by one .

Hope it work.

Regards,
David

Hi, i hope it will help you. I had a similar problem with my X50V with WM5 and the reason was the PIE cache on SD card registry hack. When i removed this hack, the battery drain was fixed. Now i don't install applications on the memory cards and my pda works pretty well.

I forgot to mention that i have deleted the two CompactionPrio registry entries to avoid the processor to be stucked at the maximum speed when the background rom compaction process is running.

I actually got a new battery (higher capacity) and all is well for now. I guess the old battery was abused. :)
