The address is not valid. Check the address and try again.

Every time I try to open a web site I get "The address is not valid. Check the address and try again." I don't know why this prob. has never ben fixed I have looked all over the Internet and see others with the same prob. and it was never fix for them eather. I have I formated the system (Hard Reset) this fired the prob. but then it came back again.

I'm so sick of fixing this stuped PDA. I know I could Hard rest again and it would fix it but I'm sick of that, if this can't be fixed I will be selling it, and that will be the end of PDA for me for good. If you can fix this prob. you are a PDA god!

If it's not one prob. it's another...

Sounds like one of those imprecise messages you can get when the device is not really connected. Does WLAN show a valid IP address?

If so, can you connect with an IP such as Google at http://216.239.39.99/ ? If so, that would suggest a DNS problem.

Yes it is connected, and yes the IP is 192.168.0.100 witch is right. It's the only device on the router. All securty is turned off (for testing).

Just because the router gives you an IP address doesn't mean it's connected to the Internet. It just means the router's DHCP is working. Hook up your desktop computer and see if it can get to the Internet.

There is already a computer running the internet off that router.
all other internet apps work just IE that is not working.
I even when to try my work Wireless (it also worked befor) and same thing ever thing works but IE. The problem is not any other device it's WM5 if I format the PPC it all works fine again. But I'm not formating it again. I have done it 3 times over the weekend because one prob. or another.

Have you tried changing the "my network card connects to:" field in Network Adapters to the other option.
You have The internet or Work in a drop down. Change it to the other one and see if that works.

Would it have anything to do with this Odyssey thing? or under "My network Adapters" I see that "Del Axim X51 WLAN Wireless Adapter" is at the bottem of the list?

Both dropdown lists should be the same (and I usually recommend 'Work'). After setting them, tap the Edit... button under either list and the Proxy Settings (tab), the top box (This network connects to the Internet) should be checked but leave everything else on this page blank. After tapping OK, make sure both dropdown lists are still set to My Work Network and OK your way back to the Today page and then soft reset.

Also, you've never responded to my post above about using the IP instead of the URL. Have you tried?

Trying to use Modem instead of Internet

I've tried everything you suggested. The "hard" reset atleast got the wirless working so it would get it's own IP. I even manually put in the DNS setting based on how my PC is working since it's also connected to the same wireless router. When I use PING in the tools window, It says "request timed out" when trying to ping the router so I'm apparently not really on the intranet. When I try to use IE, It says "Cannot Connect" and I get a link to "Settings". When I go in there it, looks like it's trying to use a modem, not the wireless lan.

It used to work but not since a friend of mine was fooling around with the bluetooth. I suspect that something got changed but we can't figure out what.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi.

Just some random shots from the hip:

A: Power save mode enabled on
Ax network card

B: Router not in Mixed or B mode

C: Ax ROM is not A012

If it works after a hard reset then there must be some software conflict with something you are installing after the hard reset. Why not try the hard reset again and after re-installing each program, one at a time, make sure the wireless works.

I was having the same problem on my x50v. I was able to ping google using the IP address you provided. However, what should I do next? I'm still running into a problem where I cannot connect to other websites but I do confirm that I have a connection with my router. I can also confirm that my router is working since I have other computers on the network that are not having similar problems. Thanks for your help.
