I have been using combo sync/charge usb cable to sync and charge my x51v with my old xp machine without any trouble.I just bought a new computer dell e520 with vista and when I plugged in the cable and connect the axim, it disables all the usb ports including usb keyboards and mouse. Only after setting the bios setting to default, that the usb ports comes back. Any idea why? Is the cable drawing too much power?

as far as i know there are problems with vista and many people here have the same problem that you do. not to sure how to fix the problem though, sorry

thanks for a quick reply. I do not know whether my problem is same as other peoples. I can sync fine with dell supplied cradle and mobile device center. I only have trouble when I try to use the cable.

I am running Vista Ultimate with an Asus motherboard and have no problems with using the usb cable or using the cradle. Doesn't sound like a vista glitch but more like a Dell desktop problem. Check the Dell website for any updated usb drivers. You may be using old XP usb drivers which may not be compatible with Vista. Almost all companies have come through with Vista Drivers. Dell is one of them that is lagging behind.

I would take the Dell desktop to the garbage dump. That is where new Dell Desktops end up in about 1 1/2 years due to the cheap 3rd or 4th generation parts in it (unless you want to spend lots of extra money to bring it up to date).

I built my own for about half the cost than what dell is asking (for the same type of new computer) and my parts are current. I repair computers for a living and always see $$$$ when a customer brings in a Dell Desktop. Now that I think of it.....Yes buy a Dell...Keep me in business and put my kids though university!!!!!!:approve:
