If you don't know what cranky geeks is, it's a tech podcast hosted by John Dvorak, in which he has 3 other "cranks" (one of them being Sebastian Rupley and the other 2 different guests) and they basically discuss tech news.

Well they got to the topic of the Axim being discontinued and they just kind of said it died because, even though it was the best ppc (i really got excited about them just hands down saying it's the best :approve: ) telephones do all that stuff now, and no one wants to carry a bunch of gadgets.

Then the funny part is one of the guests agrees that no one wants to carry a lot of electronic junk around, and whips out his huge clamshell smartphone and some other device i think he says is his blackberry (although i thought blackberry's were cell phones too so i don't know why he had 2 things).

In the end though all they really said was that the axim was the best ppc and no one bought them so now they are discontinued.

I want to put the clip up but I don't want to break and site rules or anything...

I wish I could have just been there though with my Axim and turned off their TVs with novii remote, and skyped my friends, and went on instant messenger, and used opera and really showed them that anything a smartphone can do (besides being a phone) can be done about a million times better on the axim.

I guess I'm just anti-social. I rarely have to use my cell phone, but then I'm not a "mobile worker" constantly needing to carry on about sales forecasts while driving to/from work or getting coffee at an internet cafe.

My big gripe is screen real estate where smartphones are concerned. I really love the relatively large amount of space my X51v has. I'll probably get a smartphone one of these years or sooner. Screen size seems like it will be a real limiting factor on what I can do, though perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised. I suppose if I never had owned an Axim I might not be prejudiced.
