Mad How to kill the "battery latch error" message!?!?

:stickpoke

It is really getting annoying now & I'm ready to snap. How the hell do you end it?
My latch doesn't move anymore because the last time I checked I gorrilla glued it out of pure anger, now it is firmly in places, this was probably 2 months ago no regrets.

Anyway it shows no signs of letting up (good thing) but oddly enough recently this thing will beep the dumb battery latch error even when I'm not touching it, hell I placed it screen side down on a flat suface and it beeped the error.

I finally got it to stop but at the cost of my heart rate I can't take this.

Help, there has to be a tweak or some program that'll kill it.

If you are willing to open up your Axim I can show you what you need to kill/remove/relink in order to get rid of the warning. From what I've heard there is no way to disable it in software.

In this image (courtesy of Afarre) the switch you are looking for is directly up from the supercap (battery like thing) and almost in line with the centre of the sync connector. http://allyoucanupload.webshots.com/...33614687064064

If I was having that problem I would open the Axim up, take a multimeter and work out which contacts are made when the latch pushes against the switch. I would then snip off the switch and solder a piece of wire across the contacts that tell it the latch is closed... It means it will *never* detect it open again, but hey, I'll know it was open because I opened it dang it! :D

If your Axim is still under warranty., Dell will replace it. As stated before, the problem is a hardware issue.

The problem is that the legs on the battery plate are not making sufficient contact with the sensor that gives the battery door warning.

One method that I have herd of to fixing this is to place a small amount of foam tape on the ends of the legs on the battery plate. This extends the length of the legs so that they touch the sensor.
