Wont boot up, any ideas.

Hi,

my wifes Axim has gone faulty. It freezes on power up as shown.

Hard reset doesnt change anything, re boots to the same point, wont connect to computer. It wont boot from the SD to re flash the software (using the great info on here) as I thought I would try that as a solution.

Any ideas on what may cause a failure like this.

Warranty expired in April

Cheers.

Have you tried an abortive hard reset? Try the normal route but cancel it when you are given the option to proceed or cancel.

You can also try a soft reset from the freeze point. Is the photo accurate as far as the lines in the display, I think I recall seeing something here about stripes on axim display

Thanks for the suggestions.

Ive treid all sorts of combinations of reset. However I should also say when you do the hard reset the cancel or proceed page only flicks up for a split second, that looks corruoted too, Ive tried holding the different buttons down when the screen flashes up.

Once the corrupted screen is up the machine only responds to a hard reset.

Frustrating, I know! I had trouble with my old X3: just like this. I don't remember exactly how I did it, but I recall restoring it by hard resetting, during a hard reset (if that makes sense) - essentially, hard reset and then hard reset again immediately (don't press anything else).

This is the equivalent of a soft reset

Thanks again for the ideas.

Once the screen locks, the only thing you can do is a hard reset and it goes back to the same point. The power button does not work so the battery has to come out or it will just sit there until the battery goes flat.
