An X51V doesn't have a backup battery as such, just a small capacitor to keep the clock alive when the battery is removed.

If your time and date remains correct after changing batteries, then your capacitor is OK

It sounds to me like Lenny's ROM has a minor bug, since it should not be reporting the status of the 'back-up' battery at all.

The problem is the included batti.exe utility. If you run it on a standard WM5 x51v you'll get the same results. I removed the shortcut from the Start Up folder (in Lenny's L11).

Great. Oh well. Maybe I won't do any battery swaps anymore. Anyway to have a back-up on my sd card??
Simpler solution just look for an application called 'Battery Replace' by Mike Spikel. It allows you to keep the date and time after running this application and upon a battery switch (within a minute of course) will set the date and time for you. KWEL and thanks again to Mike. :approve:

Well - that solution is - as strange as it might seem - in this thread ...

But it is still a workaround and not real a solution ... ;-)

If you're refering to the capacitor (X51, rather than the battery in an X50) then, I found the axim very unstable without it - lots of odd faults.

I agree, another odd thing was the power button was a lot less sensitive.

I´m asking that because I took off the capacitor from my x51v and it stopped working at all! Do you guys think the problem is that? Or maybe I damaged something else? Thanks

Mine still worked when I removed my cap, just didn't keep time/date. Might have bridged a connection with the solder or messy flux. Hopefully you didn't burn/damage the board.

Several electronics suppliers in Toronto list the part number but all have zero stock.

You might want to check Ebay. Search for x51 and capacitor.

Or, you can ask if those suppliers will get one in for you. :)

I have just bought a used x50, I have the problem as I replaced the battery (not the back up battery) with the another one, the X50 lost all data and need to hard reset, is the the back up battery problem? also I can't charge/sync with the usb cable, but only can charge with the cradle only...don't know what is the problem. I am the newbee, don't know much about the techs...any buddy can help?
