X51V to LG8100 Bluetooth Dial-up Connection

So, I managed to:
1) establish a bluetooth connection between my Axim and my TELUS LG-8100 cellphone.
2) Create a dial-up connection on the axim for Sympatico dialup service (includes username and password)
3) LG-8100 receives dialup info from Axim and dials the number.
4) A connection is established to the sympatico service (I assume) and the AXIM opens up a terminal window. Most of the time this window is completely blank however sometimes the prompt "Username:" appears. In case of the latter, the window will not accept any input from the keyboard.

And that is as far as I can get. Obviously the username/password is not sent from the axim to Sympatico. Eventually the terminal window displays a message "%username: Timeout expired", the cell terminates the call and the axim window displays the message "NO CARRIER".

Any ideas what could be wrong???

I've noticed that username/password negotiations fail with many web-based sites, particularly using Opera. I don't try this often as I use Profimail for all of my email accounts.
