Aximsitewifiicon WiFi locks up X51v!

I know there is a solution for this, For the longest time I had it working right, but now I cant figure out what I did...

Anyway, I turn on WiFi, connect, use it, and then turn off my X51v without tapping the wireless button. It "suspends" but the green light keeps flashing (and my battery drains) and when I press the pwoer button nothing happens. Only way to revive it is to soft-reset.

Running the A17 ROM, but had same problems with A12 ROM. No such problem with Bluetooth, only installed apps at the moment are RealONE (crappy as it is...), TCPMP, and Magic Button.

My x51v will do the same thing when the wireless light drains the power to low or if there are to many applications still in memory when I power or it powers off.

Nope.

...Well, not since I flashed to A17. I did back on A12, but that was several hard-resets ago...

Get rid of Magic Button. That is almost always the culprit.

That has been an issue forever. You have to turn off wifi before you turn off the pda. if you watch your pda you will see that bt does it too but it draws considerably less power and for some reason it turns itself back off. but everyonce in a while you will catch the bt light flashing. wifi wont turn off though for some reason. usually you discover this because you pick up your pda and find it very warm and the battery dead.

So even right after a hard reset without installing anything you have this problem?

But wisbar is obviously not the culpret, I will try removing Magic button *sigh* and I liked having a taskbar/switcher...

EDIT:
Uninstalled MAgicbutton and did a soft-reset. Still locks... may try a hard reset tonight after I do a backup, see if it IS related to a program...

I have A17 and don't have this problem (and didn't have it on A12 either).

Have installed all the programs you mention except magic button.

EDIT:

Well, guess what happened this morning. I got up and my x51v was off, with the WiFi light flashing.
So I think you may be right about it not being a software problem.

I assume what happened is it turned on itself at midnight as usual, the wireless came on because it had been on before, and when it turned itself off the wireless stayed on. Odd because whenever I turn it off normally using the power switch, this doesn't happen, even if WiFi is on.

That is the most likely scenario. for some reason it usually makes the battery get pretty warm too. Only way to make it stop is to be sure to turn off wifi before you turn off the pda...

Just remove the magic button. Then perform a hard reset. Reconfigure the wi-fi. Issue will be resolved forever.

I don't have Magic Button though, never have, and have only just done a hard reset, and as I posted above it just happened to me :(

In fact, I don't have any programs that run in the background, any today plugins and I don't think any programs were even loaded when I switched off.

Battery wasn't warm or drained in my case. But I will make sure I always turn off Wifi from now on.

I had this problem for awile and it was very annoying. I found out it was something to do with wisbar(which I had uninstalled) was starting up in the notification queue, and causing the problem.

I just recieved a bricked Axim in the mail today. I flashed it to the a17 ROM and it's working beautifully --- including no problems wiht the Wifi! This makes me wonder if there IS some registry key or something that is causing it... or perhaps it's the specific hardware revision, if you all dont mind, check inside the batt. compartment and see what the hardware revision # is, it could be a whole batch that have a problem!
