Unable to read in direct sunlight

Hey, Folks!
Bought an Aximx50 to use with home inspection software. I am disappointed that it is hard to read in sunlight. Is this normal? What's the solution short of buying a view camera hood or stepping inside to read?

First - Welcome to Aximsite. You'll find a lot of good info here, especially if you use the search function. :approve:

Have you set your brightness to the highest level. The default on battery isn't bright enough for outdoor use. You find it using Settings>System>Brightness. Keep in mind that on the brightest level the battery won't last as long. When I've used mine outside, it lasts about 1.5 - 2 HRs at best.

Unfortunately, it's a problem with all LCD screens. If you've ever taken a laptop outside and held it at the same angle then I'm sure you'd see the same effect.

If the sunlight is bright enough and you hold the Axim at the right angle, you can get it so the sun is illuminating the screen instead of the backlight, so it's hopefully readable enough.

The other thing you can try is turning up the backlight level (if you haven't already), although doing so does reduce battery life.

I agree - use the sun to your advantage, rather than fighting with it.

Yes, you acctually need no backlight. It works fine, but your colors arent as bright. It kind of reminds me of a calculator type screen.
