Axim got salty water

Hi guys - lately I was on a beach and one wave of water was so nasty that totaly covered my blanket with backpack where I had my lovely Axim.

So - it got a little bit wet (but just a little I think as it was a wave only)

but it got a sand on CF card inside - so I assume there was a little bit water in Axim. :(

So now I was able to take out cards off (thanks to you guys) and
after cleanning (with vacum cleaner) I tried to start it- and it works but (as always but :( ) but it behaves strangley and does not react to stylus and buttons.
Only to reset. So I want to open it and to check how my Axim looks inside.

So any advice? Can anybody tell me how I can take the cover off so I can maybe clean inside (of course the battery is alsready out of Axim again).

I WANT MY AXIM

To remove the covers have a look at:

If I were you, I'd disconnect the LCD/digitiser and buttons from the main pcb. You can also remove the plastic battery/stylus holder with a small cross-head screwdriver. Thoroughly and carefully, wash the main PCB in distilled/de-ionised water.

Clean the LCD/digitiser with a paper towel just dampened with distilled water (don't get it soaking wet) . Pay careful attention to the contacts (they are most likely to corrode). Do the same to the button PCB.

If you have access to an air-line carefully blow the dust and excess water away from the switches, ICs etc. (careful - a high pressure blast can damage the thing)

Let everything dry slowly (e.g a couple of days) in a warm place.

Not true my friend.Several cell and cordless phones have gone in our pool and I revived by removing the battery and letting them air dry for a few days.Salt water is a different issue. Some have taken what ever was dunked in salt water apart and flushed with plain water and air dried for several days with good results. Might not work everytime but it's worth a shot.

If you get to it quickly enough, then washing salt water with fresh helps, but I doubt that we've gotten to this case quickly enough. I just today replace a Nokia 6280 that was ruined by... milk.
