Tried the common power on solutions, no luck.

My X51 is refusing to power on, so I tried some of the methods that have been used here:

1) Remove battery and then try power on.
2) Place in cradle with battery, place in cradle without battery
3) soft reset
4) hard reset
5) remove SD/CF cards and do all of above

Battery button shows green for full charge. The key/screen lock is not in the "lock" position. The battery cover is not in the "unlock" position.

At one point I recall doing the "server" trick, but can't remember if it was on this unit or my previous one.

Just wondering if there is any tricks I may have missed to get it to power on before I have to make the dreaded RMA call to Dell.

Regards, John

Further Progress, er developments I mean...

Just after I posted, I tried holding down the wireless button while pressing the power. I got a screen with:
"SD Image Update A10-G4" and below that a window that said:

"Update Failed"
"Image update failed. Please Try Again"

I then tried to power it down with the power button. Nothing.

So I remove battery, try power on. Nothing.

Replace battery, power on. Nothing. Hold down the WiFI key and power on, and it does the above again. Power off does not work, so I try soft reset. Nothing happens.

Remove SD and CF cards. Do above procedure to power on, get message "SD Card does not exist!" and then it goes back to the above messages.

Hold in the soft reset button and hit power button at the same time and it powers off. Does not power on again using power button. Remove battery.

Try again. Replace SD card. Use above procedure to power up, get message "Only FAT32 supported".

Try power on using above procedure while holding in reset key. Nothing happens.

So it appears the unit will power on, but it seems the brains are fried.

Updated ROM, still no power on

Now I understand, the screen is for updating the ROM from an image on the SD card. So I placed the appropriate files on the SD card and it said that is successfully flashed it and told me to do a hard reset. Again that's where the problem lay, it will not do a hard reset or power on.
