Exclamation Stuck on Start-Up Screen

OK, so, I can't find an answer to my problem anywhere on the internet.
I recently bought a new 520 MHz model of the x51 off Ebay.

After I finished installing my programs, putting data onto it, and everything else, I decided to make a back-up to my CF card. Bad idea, obviously.
I closed the Backup/Restore program, and went back to the Today Screen, and left it in the cradle.
A few minutes later, I tried to do something, and it wouldn't take any input. It was stuck on the Today Screen.

So, I did a soft-reset, hoping that would fix it. Another bad idea. It got stuck on the Dell start-up screen. Nothing I did could make it go on.

I decided, since i had just backed up, to do a hard-reset, and clear all the data. Now, I'm stuck on the
'Windows Mobile: Tap the scren to set up your Windows Mobile device.'
screen. I can't press any hardware keys, and the touch screen doesn't accept input. Then, after an hour of looking for an answer, I decided it was time to take out the battery, and leave it out for a while. Popped it back in later, and of course it still didn't accept input......

I just came here to see if anyone knows about this problem, and knows a way to fix it, without buying a new one....
And, yes, the lock switch is turned off.
Help would be greatly appreciated. :(

Which version of Windows are you running? WM2003, WM5, WM6?

They have just recently released WM6 for the x50 as well as updated WM5 roms. They are all loaded off the SD card from startup.

You'll have to reload your ROM anyway to get it back up... you might as well upgrade it in the process because the ROM files are already made vs you making them yourself and risking further problems.

You can't talk about the stuff here... but google for the roms. The process is easy using the SD Loader method (listed on Aximsite). Its the discussion of the actual files that are disallowed here.

Hi,

ZRLuigi, do not pay attention to what player911 posted.

The roms he is talking about are for the x50V and x51V not the x50 or x51.

The pda you have is the x51 and these are not for that.

I am not going to be much help here but may be doing a hard reset with no card in either slot will do the trick.

Wish I was more help but please do not mess with the rom stuff presented above as you will have more issues than you have currently.

It Works!!!!!

thank you so much, harpgliss
I always keep an SD card in the slot for extra storage.
I removed that, turned it on, and it works perfectly :) :)

I'm still kind of curious as to why it decided to stop working all the sudden.....:hide:

But, thanks anyway for your help
