Axim not charging when turned on

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been covered already. I have been looking for ages and the search feature on here doesn't work so well for me.

I have noticed lately that my 51v won't charge whilst in the cradle or with the charging cable, when the unit is turned on.

Not sure if this is a result of upgrading the rom to A12, because I completed that some months ago. Could be, just haven't been using it much lately, but now need the GPS to go, and its really sucks the battery!

Of course, if this has always been the case, feel free to abuse me :)

Unless you are using the AC adaptor the usb socket isn't able to supply enough power to charge & run the device at the same time..

Third party usb charge/sync cables will not do both at the same time. The Dell cradle will, if you use the AC adaptor.

Suggest that you get a second battery. You can then charge them both in the back of the cradle.

[I use my X51v in the car from a 1000mA Car/USB adapter and it seems to charge/run OK using it as a GPS. You could try reducing the CPU clock speed to low and/or reducing the screen brightness as this greatly reduces the current used.

It appears that my son needed the power cable moreso than me and the cradle was running on USB power only

I just didn't click until prompted by psion and dotan - much appreciated. :)

And thanks also to davrol and aargee, i will follow your advice and make a couple of purchases in the very near future :approve:
